Moses was a large man and was well liked by whites and the Indians. He was deeply lamented by the Indians when he died. He surveyed the boundary line between NY and NJ in 1787. (History of Minisink Region, p 187.) He was a judge and surrogate for Herkimer and Onandaga Counties.¹

Norman Wentworth DeWitt was born on 18 September 1876 at Tweedside, ON, Canada.¹ He married Katherine Ida Johnston on 26 September 1906.³ Norman Wentworth DeWitt died on 20 September 1958 at Lincoln, IL.

Norman Wentworth DeWitt was a Professor of Classics at Victoria College, Toronto, Canada.^1,3
Norman's parents were listed as John DeWitt and Phebe Nevers?. The Biographical Dictionary gave the parents as Hiram DeWitt and Margaret Conland. The birth certificate is online on familysearch, and lists the same parents. They are listed in the 1881 Canadian Census According to some online sources Hiram is the son of John DeWitt and Phoebe (John DeWitt and Phoebe Nevers?). It is unclear how these fit into a DeWitt genealogy, as the intervening generations are not in the database.^3,2
