Notes on Jeremiah FitzRandolph come from "Descendants of Edward FitzRandolph" by Stelle FitzRandolph. There seems to be a glitch whether Benjamin was the son of Jeremiah, or a son of Jeremiah's son Jeremiah. Although it fouls up the maternal genealogy, at least the paternal genealogy remains in the same line.

A card found in the LDS library states that Jeremiah FitzRandolph b 20/22 July 1715 in Piscataway by wife Ruth Dunn had a son Jeremiah who married Rhoda Ayres. This is the only entry for children for Jeremiah FitzRandolph and Ruth DUNN. However, a copy of the will of Jeremiah FitzRandolph proved 3 Jun 1765 states ' Randolph, Jeremiah, of borough of Elizabeth, Essex CO; will of. Wife Ruth such part of my moveable estate as she chooses. A part of my planting joining to James Manning may be sold to pay debts, if is should be needed. Wife to have the use of all lands til my son Benjamin comes to 21. The plantations over the mountains to be sold and my wife to have L100 of the money. Son Jeremiah L60 Son Benjamin L60 Daughter Mary, the wife of Daniel Lambert, L20. Daughter Unus, the wife of Daniel Lyon, L25. Daughter Sarah Randolph L30. Daughter Martha Randolph, L30.      The family genealogy on Joseph FitzRandolph was obtained from the Descendants of Edward FitzRandolph. In addition, cards in the LDS library from Rutgers University collection state the children of Edward FitzRandolph, with Joseph being born either 1 Mar or May 1656. He died 1726. He had married (Jo)Hannah Conger.
     A second card from Rutgers lists Joseph FitzRandolph as being born 1 Mar 1656 and died in 1726 in Piscataway. His children are listed as Hannah b 4 Feb 1688/9; Joseph b 11 Feb 1690/1; Mary b 3 Aug 1693; Bettua b 20 Sep 1695; Lydia b 4 Jan 1697/8; Moses 9 Apr 1700; Jonathan b 15 Jun 1702; Susannah b 23 Jun 1704; Ruth b 11 Jun 1706; Ann b 3 Sep 1708; Prudence b 3 Nov 1712; Isaac b 21 Apr 1716.1 Name variation: Joseph Fitz Randolph.2,3

"History of Bergen County (Van Valen)" lists the father of Justice as Basil of Virginia. "The Descendants of Edward Fitz Randolph" by Stelle-FitzRandolph lists the father as Benjamin Fitz Randolph. However, they admit to a glitch.
First, Benjamin could be the son of Jeremiah Fitz Randolph and Ruth Dunn who had a son Benjamin, no date for birth given. They also had a son Jeremiah b abt 1740. This date appears to be 'off' and out of sequence with the other children whose births are 1775, 1765, and 1775.
Second, he could have been the son of Jeremiah (son of Jeremiah and Ruth Dunn) born about 1767. Whichever way, the family line comes from Jeremiah FitzRandolph and Ruth Dunn. Benjamin is either the son or grandson of Jeremiah and Ruth Dunn.
Third, The family of Benjamin FitzRandolph and either ----Woodruff or Phebe Tucker (Tooker) are Justus, b. Short hills 6 Dec 1761; Sarah; Charlotte; Louise; Isaac; Phebe and Salina.
Fourth, A card in the LDS Library lists Benjamin Fitz Randolph as the father of son Justus born 6 Dec 1761. No mother is listed. The card has info stating Justus married Nancy Robbins in 1788.

NOTE: The GSBC welcomes more information on this line. If Justus is a son of Benjamin, Benjamin cannot have been born later than 1741, which makes it impossible for him to be a son of Jeremiah (son of Jeremiah and Ruth Dunn.)1,4      According to family history from VanValen - given to me by Mary Block - Justus (Justice) Fitz Randolph was born 6 Dec 1761 in Short Hills, NJ. This date is corraborated by Stelle/FitzRandolph in The Descendants of Edward Fitz Randolph. They state he died there 28 May 1813, and was married to Nancy Robbins c. 1788 of Short Hills.
     His children, all born in Short Hills, were Absalom b 8 Aug 1790; Hannah b 6 Jan 1793; Lewis b 11 July 1796; Mary b 12 Jun 1799; William b 1 May 1802.
The father of Justus was Benjamin Fitz Randolph b in Piscataway; d 1840. The Book Descendants of Edward FitzRandolph states a problem between this Benjamin who married --- Woodruff and his uncle Benjamin who married Phebe Tucker. Possibly wives and children have been mixed. This will still be the same lineage except an intervening generation of Jeremiah, a son of the Jeremiah from which Benjamin descended.
A listing in the LDS library states Justus FitzRandolph was born in Short Hills 6 Dec 1761. His father was Benjamin FitzRandolph. Justus was married to Nancy Robbins in 1788.
The only other entry to be found on Justus FitzRandolph was 'New Jersey in 1793', abstract and index to the 1793 Militia Census in the State of New Jersey a Justice was listed age 35 in Woodbridge Township.1 Name variation: Justus Fitz Randolph.2,3
