Walling Van Winkle Vreeland was born on 8 January 1838.2 He married Mary J Tolles.1 Walling Van Winkle Vreeland died on 26 April 1921.2 He and Mary J Tolles were buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Newark, Section N, Lot 5.3,4

Acc. to Bergen Families (Vreeland File) Mary was called Mary Woodruff, daughter of Samuel L. Tolles and Mary. This would indicate that she had been married before. In the 1880 census only 5 children are listed (Lilly, Mamie and Frank are missing; Cornelia is listed as Nellie S., Henry as Louis J., and Joseph as J. Clinton.)5 Walling Van Winkle Vreeland made a will on 16 March 1920. (#1732 U, Will O-6 p263.)6 Name variation: Walling V Vreeland.7
