He served in Brielle (1874-79), Loosdrecht (1879-82), Alkmaar (1882-93), Biezelinge (1893-96), Lodi (Liberty Street Christian Reformed Church, 1896-99), and he was the founder of the Reformed Church in Lodi, which he served for about 25 years.1,2 Surviving, in addition to his wife, are nine of his eleven children: J. D. and Isabella of Lodi, Marinus, Arie, John M. and Mrs. Henry Gerritsen of Hackensack, Mrs. Peter de Jonge in Holland, Peter M. in Hasbrouck Heights, and Cornelius B. of Rochelle Park.1,2 He immigrated on 27 February 1896 on the SS. Dewitt Clinton Cook was born on 16 August 1813 at Pompey, Onondaga County, NY.1 He married Sarah C Burr circa 1838 at North Bergen, NY.1 He married Celestia Cynthia Burr in September 1839 at North Bergen, NY.1 He died on 8 March 1884 at Clarendon, NY, at age 70.1 He was buried in the Hillside Cemetery in Holly.1

Edward James Cook was born on 4 January 1842 at Clarendon, NY.1 He married Emily Amanda Hill circa 1865.1 He died circa 1917.1
Edward was a carpenter by trade; he went to Iowa and settled in Marshalltown in his early twenties. He became a Methodist minister with a circuit of 9 churches covering 200 miles. He returned to NY state and built churches at Pavilion, Nunda and Eden. In the 1880's he entered Niagara Univ and received his MD degree. He was in general practice in Buffalo, NY where he died.1

Elizabeth Cook was born on 31 October 1820. She married Tunis H. Vreeland, son of Henry Abraham Vreeland and Elenor Hennion, on 27 May 1841 at Methodist Church, Butler, Morris County, NJ, (by the Rev. J.M. Oden Welder.)1 She died on 27 October 1903 at Newark, Essex County, NJ, at age 82. She was buried on 31 October 1903 in the Old Butler Cemetery in Butler.1
